On April 22, 2018 Fr. Samuel Davis became the second black orthodox priest in the Orthodox Church in America, the first black priest ordained in the Diocese of NY & NJ, and the first Afro Latino priest in the Orthodox Church in America. Serving with him was the first black Orthodox priest in the Orthodox Church in America, Fr Moses Berry.
While at St Tikhon’s Orthodox Monastery, Fr Moses Berry shared with the seminary community the experience of African American history and ancient roots of Africa in the Orthodox Church and Faith.
